Do Re Mi: Which One?
Learn to read musical notes
Our Music category began in September 2021.
The first activity helps learners read notes on a staff.
When learning an instrument such as the piano, reading music is an early step. Note cards can help with that practice.
Regular practice between lessons can help, although young children may find it difficult to practise with note cards on their own.
We made this activity to offer another way to practise recognising notes.
About the activity

Choose the note on the staff that matches the note name shown in the question.
A correct answer shows [〇].
An incorrect answer shows [✕].
Practise recognising each note directly, without counting up from do every time.
Both treble-clef and bass-clef activities are available.
Treble clef

Bass clef

1. Notes are spaced out to make them easier to read.
2. Short questions keep practice moving.
3. Tap the note itself to answer.
Development notes
These images show early drafts of the activity screen.

The first design placed selection buttons beneath the notes. We removed them so learners could select the notes directly.
We also replaced plain black circles with whole-note symbols.
