Use a whole number from 1 to 60.

Aim for exactly the target amount.

DirectWith 2 or 3 times the time,
you get 2 or 3 times the water.

InverseWith 2 or 3 times as many taps,
the filling time is ½ or ⅓.

    HOW TO PLAY

    Predict, then try it.

    1. Choose a course

      Choose Direct, Inverse or Mixed.

    2. Enter a prediction and start.

Read what stays the same. Enter your prediction and press Start.

    3. Check, then try the next mission.

Check the result. Try again, or go to the next mission.

Direct proportion: Time and amount of water.
With the same tap, twice the time gives twice the water.

Inverse proportion: Number of taps and time needed.
With the same target amount, twice as many taps take half the time. Each comparison tank stops automatically at the target.

Up to 3 stars per mission: 3 on the first try, 2 on the second, or 1 after using a hint or taking more tries.

    3. Check the water or filling times. Try again, or choose Next mission.
    For parents and teachers

Direct proportion compares time and water at a fixed flow rate. Inverse proportion compares the number of taps and time needed for a fixed amount of water. Comparison tanks start on the same clock and stop at the same target. The animation runs faster than real time.

Direct and Inverse have five questions each; Mixed has six. A first-try answer earns three stars, a second try earns two, and using a hint or taking further tries earns one. Original question settings and scoring are unchanged.
